Focus on new Unibind covers: UniCover Flex
Unibind has launched an updated version of their patented
SteelBinding system called the UniCoverSystem. Within that UniCoverSystem is a group of high-quality plastic report
covers called UniCover Flex.
What is it?
A UniCover Flex is a thermal binding cover, patented by
Unibind. It uses a nylon-based resin to
adhere pages to its spine. The spine of
the cover is made of steel and is in the form of a “U” channel. When the spine is in contact with the hot
Unibind element, the resin heats up and turns to liquid. The pages quickly settle into this patented resin. When the spine has cooled, the resin “sets”
and the pages are permanently bound to the spine, guaranteeing a professional
and solid bind.
As we know the world isn’t perfect, so Unibind has
implemented the ability to edit documents that have already been bound. Simply place your bound document on the
heating element, and un-bind your document. What you are doing is simply re-heating the nylon resin, which loosens
the pages from the spine. Slide a page
left or right to remove it neatly from the book. Then, add your new document while the resin
is still hot.

The plastic front/back covers are hinged on the edges of the
steel spine, allowing for the document to remain open after it’s been bound. One side is clear and the other side is
frosted. This gives you the flexibility
to choose how you want your document to look.
There are currently 11 different colors of spines available: azur,
black, bordo, dark blue, dark green, gold, quartz, red, ruby, silver and white. All UniFlex covers are available in Portrait
Letter Sizes. Pages are neatly aligned
with the edge of the acetate.
There are many different widths of spines to accommodate any bound presentation up to 340 sheets of paper (1-1/2” thick book). UniCover Flex utilize Unibind's crimping process which crimps the spine to match the number of pages inside the sine. This greatly reduces the amount of different size covers needed to keep in inventory.
UniFlex Covers are compatible with the following Unibind binding systems: UniBinder 8.2, UniBinder 8.1, Unibinder 120, and UniBinder 60.
